Buy in Denmark, Shipped to Australia
Your Danish purchase, sent on to Australia. New goods with a receipt, received in Copenhagen, checked, repacked and tracked to your ground floor.
In short
GIA ships brand-new furniture, lighting and design pieces bought from Danish shops to private buyers and companies in Australia, including from shops that will not ship to Australia themselves. Your goods need their original packaging and a receipt. GIA receives or collects them in Copenhagen, inspects and repacks them, and ships them on, tracked on giaservice.dk. GST, any duty and the clearance are paid by the receiver, and delivery is to the ground floor.

Importing your Danish purchase into Australia
Goods sent from Denmark to Australia are cleared by the Australian Border Force (ABF), and GST is administered by the Australian Taxation Office. Consignments worth more than AUD 1,000 need an import declaration, and the importer pays the duties, taxes and charges at the border. Furniture shipped through GIA is normally above this amount.
| Over AUD 1,000 | An import declaration is required, and the importer pays all relevant duties, taxes and other charges, including an import processing charge. GST is paid at the border. |
|---|---|
| AUD 1,000 or less | Free of duty and GST at the border (except tobacco and alcohol). Instead, GST is collected by the overseas seller at the point of sale. |
| Who pays | For shipments above AUD 1,000, the receiver pays GST, any duty and the clearance. GIA prepares the export documents in Denmark. |
| Biosecurity | Australia checks imports for biosecurity. Goods travel in clean, new manufacturer packaging. |
| Pallets | Shipments to Australia travel on heat treated, stamped Euro pallets. |
Several items, one shipment
Items bought together and shipped as one consignment are valued together. If the total is above AUD 1,000, the whole consignment is formally entered at the border.
Delivery to the ground floor in Australia
