GIA gateway service · Copenhagen to the world

Buy in Denmark, We Ship It to You

Your Danish purchase, received, checked and sent on to you. New goods with a receipt, repacked in Copenhagen and tracked on giaservice.dk.

In short

GIA's gateway service is for people and companies abroad who buy brand-new goods from Danish shops that will not ship to their country. The shop delivers to GIA in Copenhagen, or GIA collects from the shop. We inspect and photograph the goods against your receipt, repack them on a pallet or in a box, and ship them through GIA's international network, tracked on giaservice.dk. Goods must be new, in their original packaging and come with a receipt. Customs clearance, import duties and taxes in your country are the receiver's responsibility, and delivery is to the ground floor.

Pricing

How the price is set.

Every shipment gets a fixed price in writing before anything moves. The price depends on:

Size and weightThe measurements and weight of the boxes, or of the pallet once packed.
DestinationThe country and the delivery address.
RepackingWhether the goods travel in their own boxes or need a pallet, extra protection or a crate.
CollectionWhether the shop delivers to GIA, or GIA collects from the shop.
Insurance valueBasic transport insurance is included. The value of the goods is part of the quote.

Customs clearance, import duties and taxes in the destination country are paid by the receiver. GIA prepares the export documents in Denmark, and the shop's receipt serves as the commercial invoice.

Who the gateway service is for

Private buyers and companies outside Denmark who have found the right piece in a Danish shop: a sofa, a dining table, a lamp, a set of chairs or a carefully chosen home item. The shop sells it, but will not send it to your country, or makes the delivery so complicated that it never happens. GIA becomes your address in Copenhagen. The shop hands the goods to GIA, and GIA takes it from there.

The service is built for new goods only. Every item arrives in the manufacturer’s box or original packaging, with the receipt or invoice from the shop. That receipt travels with the shipment and serves as the commercial invoice.

Why some Danish shops will not ship abroad

Many shops in Denmark set up their delivery for Danish and nearby addresses only. Sending a large, boxed item to another country means export paperwork, packing for a longer journey and a partner abroad. Some shops prefer not to take that on. It says nothing about you or the product, and it is exactly the gap GIA fills.

What the receiver takes care of

Customs clearance, import duties and taxes in the destination country are the receiver’s responsibility. GIA prepares the documents in Denmark and tells you what is usually asked for, but the import itself, and any payment due on arrival, is handled by the receiver in that country. Each destination page explains the rules that apply there, with links to the official sources.

Questions about the gateway service

Can GIA buy the item for me?

No. You buy the item yourself from the Danish shop and keep the receipt. GIA receives, checks, repacks and ships it.

Do you ship used or second-hand goods?

No. The gateway service is for brand-new goods in their original packaging with a receipt. Used goods are not accepted.

Can the shop send the goods straight to GIA?

Yes. Many shops deliver to an address in Denmark without any problem. You give the shop GIA’s address and your GIA reference, or ask GIA to collect from the shop.

Who pays customs and import taxes?

The receiver. GIA prepares the export documents in Denmark, and the duties, taxes and clearance in the destination country are paid by the receiver.

Will GIA carry the furniture into my home?

Delivery abroad is to the ground floor. Carrying the goods upstairs or inside is arranged by the receiver.

How do I follow my shipment?

Every shipment has a GIA reference. You follow it on giaservice.dk with that reference.

Can you ship art or antiques this way?

No. Art and antiques go through GIA’s special transport service, which is set up for valuable and sensitive pieces.
