Sending boxes and belongings abroad from Denmark
Most of the boxes we ship belong to people who are leaving Denmark, or who have more than a suitcase can hold. If one of these sounds like you, this is the right page.
Students finishing their studies
Books, clothes, a bike and a few years of life in Denmark rarely fit in airline baggage. Pack your boxes before the end of your lease, and we collect them from your student room or flat and ship them home while you travel.
Expats and international employees leaving Denmark
When your contract ends, you often have more than baggage but less than a full home move. Ship the boxes and crates you want to keep, and sell or clear the rest. If you need the apartment emptied and cleaned for handover, we can do that too.
Danes moving or studying abroad
Sending boxes ahead to a new job, a partner or a semester abroad, from anywhere in Denmark, without driving them to a terminal yourself.
Sending things you cannot carry
Excess baggage, family belongings, a bicycle, a box of books or a piece of furniture for someone abroad. Tell us what it is and where it is going, and we recommend road, sea or air.
Customs for personal belongings: inside and outside the EU
Inside the EU. Denmark is part of the EU customs union, so belongings shipped from Denmark to another EU country, for example Germany, Poland, Spain or Italy, do not need a customs declaration.
Outside the EU. Shipments to countries such as the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland, the United States or Australia leave the EU and pass through customs in the destination country. Many countries give relief from import duty and VAT on used personal belongings when you move your home there. In the United Kingdom this is called Transfer of Residence relief, and in the United States used household effects are declared on CBP Form 3299. Norway and Switzerland have similar rules for people moving there. The rules, forms and deadlines are set by each country, so check them with the customs authority of your destination before you ship.
What to prepare. A packing list for every box, with its contents and an honest value, makes customs faster. Basic transport insurance is included. Gifts and new goods are usually treated differently from used belongings and may be taxed on arrival.
Packing tips that protect your belongings
- Put heavy things such as books in small boxes, and light things such as bedding in large boxes, so every box can be lifted safely.
- Fill empty space with towels, clothes or paper, so nothing moves inside the box.
- Tape the bottom and top seams twice, and write your name and the destination on two sides of each box.
- Number the boxes and keep a list of what is in each one. It helps customs and unpacking.
- Keep passports, medicine, keys and valuables with you, not in the shipment.

We ship personal belongings in boxes and crates, pallet shipments for larger loads, full container shipments from Copenhagen to selected destinations. Pallets are quoted after we see the shipment. Commercial cargo for companies is handled by our international freight service. We can also build wooden crates for items that need extra protection, quoted on request.
What don’t you ship?
We do not ship liquids of any kind, or batteries, aerosols, perfume and other hazardous goods. Breakable items such as plates, glassware and ceramics are only accepted when declared beforehand and packed to our standard. Plants and food need our approval in advance.

Do I need a customs declaration?
Not for shipments from Denmark to another EU country. For destinations outside the EU, such as the United Kingdom, Norway, Switzerland or the United States, the destination country’s customs rules apply. Many countries give duty relief on used personal belongings when you move there. We tell you which Danish documents to prepare.

Yes. Basic transport insurance is included.
