Paint Disposal Copenhagen — Get It All Service ApS

Get It All Service ApS collects and disposes of leftover paint, old paint tins and paint-related waste across Copenhagen, Greater Copenhagen and all of Denmark. Whether you have a few tins left over from a renovation or an entire storage room full of old paint from previous owners — we collect and ensure everything is handled correctly under Danish hazardous waste regulations.

Paint cannot go in ordinary household waste in Denmark. Disposing of paint incorrectly is both illegal and environmentally harmful. We take the complication out of the process entirely. English-speaking team. Open Monday–Saturday 07:30–18:00 and Sunday 10:30–17:00. CVR 36730595.

Why paint disposal in Denmark requires special handling

Paint is classified as farligt affald — hazardous waste — in Denmark under Affaldsbekendtgørelsen. This applies to oil-based paints, solvent-based products, paint thinners and varnishes. Water-based and acrylic paints in dried or hardened form can be disposed of as ordinary waste in some circumstances, but liquid paint of any type must go through an approved hazardous waste collection channel.

The reason is chemical. Paint contains compounds that are harmful to soil, groundwater and aquatic environments. Oil-based paints contain petroleum distillates. Many older paints contain heavy metals including lead and cadmium. Solvents and thinners release volatile organic compounds — VOCs — that contribute to air and water pollution when disposed of incorrectly.

In Denmark, farligt affald must be taken to a godkendt modtagestation — an approved hazardous waste collection facility. Most genbrugsstationer in Copenhagen and across Denmark have a dedicated farlig affald section, but getting paint there requires transport you organise yourself during their opening hours.

Get It All Service ApS removes this entirely. We collect your paint from your address and take it directly to the appropriate approved Danish hazardous waste facility.

Types of paint we collect

Acrylic and water-based paint The most common type used in Danish homes — wall paint, ceiling paint and trim paint. Liquid acrylic paint must not be poured down drains or placed in ordinary waste while still liquid. It must either be dried and hardened before disposal as ordinary waste, or collected as hazardous waste if in significant quantities. We assess the condition and direct it to the correct stream.

Oil-based paint and alkyd paint Used for woodwork, doors, window frames and exterior surfaces. Oil-based paint contains petroleum distillates that do not dry out naturally and always require hazardous waste disposal regardless of quantity. We collect oil-based paint tins in any condition.

Gloss paint and enamel paint High-gloss and enamel paints used on metal and wood surfaces. These are typically solvent-based and require hazardous waste disposal in Denmark.

Primers and undercoats Both water-based and solvent-based primers are collected. Solvent-based primers are classified as farligt affald in Denmark.

Varnishes, lacquers and wood stains These products contain solvents and resins that require hazardous waste processing. We collect all types and brands.

Paint thinners, solvents and cleaning products White spirit, turpentine, acetone, brush cleaners and similar products. These are some of the most hazardous materials in a typical Danish home and must be handled as farligt affald.

Spray paint and aerosol cans Aerosol paint cans — including partly used and empty cans — are pressurised and contain flammable propellants. They require separate hazardous waste processing. Do not puncture or crush aerosol cans before disposal.

Old paint tins from previous owners Very common in Danish properties — previous owners leave tins of paint in the basement or loft from renovations carried out years or decades ago. We collect these as part of a property clearance or as a standalone collection.

How to prepare paint for our collection — practical guide

Some simple preparation makes collection faster and safer for everyone.

Acrylic and water-based paint — small quantities If you have only a small amount of acrylic paint left in a tin — less than a centimetre covering the bottom — you can leave the lid off in a ventilated area and allow it to dry completely. Once fully hardened, dried acrylic paint can go in ordinary household waste in Denmark. For larger quantities of liquid acrylic paint, do not attempt to dry it yourself — contact us for collection.

Acrylic and water-based paint — larger quantities Do not pour liquid acrylic paint down the drain. Do not pour it into the garden or onto soil. Mix with a commercial paint hardener — malingshærder — available from hardware stores including Bauhaus and XL-Byg, or mix with sand or cat litter to absorb and solidify the paint. Once hardened, contact us for collection.

Oil-based paint — all quantities Never attempt to pour oil-based paint away or dry it in the open. Oil-based paint contains petroleum distillates that do not evaporate safely. Keep the lid on the tin to prevent evaporation and contact us for collection as farligt affald.

All paint types — general rules Keep lids on tins where possible to prevent evaporation and spillage. Do not mix different types of paint together — keep acrylic, oil-based and specialist paints in separate tins. Do not pour any liquid paint down drains, sinks, toilets or outdoor drains — this contaminates the wastewater treatment system and carries significant fines under Danish environmental law.

Aerosol cans Leave the cap on. Do not attempt to empty aerosol cans. Do not puncture or crush them. Store upright until collection.

Paint collection as part of a larger clearance

Paint disposal is most commonly part of a larger renovation clearance, basement clearance or property cleanout. We regularly collect paint tins alongside construction debris, old appliances, furniture and general renovation waste — all in a single visit.

If you are clearing a basement, loft, garage or property and have paint tins among other items, include them in your email when you contact us. We price paint collection as part of a combined clearance at no significant additional cost.

Who uses our paint disposal service in Denmark

Private residents after renovations Leftover paint tins accumulate in Danish homes across every renovation. We collect everything at the end of your renovation alongside any other debris.

Property buyers clearing a newly purchased flat Previous owners frequently leave paint tins in the basement storage room — kælderrum. These are almost always old, partially used and of no value to you. We collect as part of a property clearance or as a standalone job.

Landlords and property managers Tenants leave paint behind regularly. We collect quickly and dispose of correctly, providing written confirmation of hazardous waste disposal for your records.

Expats and international residents leaving Denmark You cannot take paint on a plane and you cannot leave it in the flat. We collect as part of a full property clearance before you hand back the keys.

Businesses and contractors Commercial renovation paint waste, leftover site paint, solvent and thinner disposal. We handle commercial volumes and provide waste disposal documentation.

Customers in Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg We travel to Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg and other Danish cities for larger paint and hazardous waste clearances as part of a combined property clearance. Email us with details and we will confirm availability.
