Grønttorvet in Valby was Copenhagen’s wholesale fruit, vegetable and flower market from 1958 until the last traders left in 2016, when the market moved to Høje-Taastrup. The site is now a new residential district with around 2,000 homes or more (sources give different totals), mixing owner-occupied and rental flats, townhouses, and senior and student housing. Many buildings are named after flowers, and a park is laid out where the old market hall stood.
