Amager Strand is the area along Amager Beach Park (Amager Strandpark) on the east coast of Amager. The beach park reopened in 2005 with a two-kilometre artificial island, giving the city about 4.5 km of beach, and Amager Strand metro station on the M2 line connects it with the city centre and the airport. Newer apartment buildings have joined the older blocks along the coast, and many internationals choose the area for the beach and the short trip to CPH Airport.
