Get It All Service ApS collects and recycles old televisions and screens from homes, apartments, offices and storage rooms across Copenhagen, Greater Copenhagen and all of Denmark. Televisions cannot go in ordinary household waste in Denmark. They are classified as electronic waste — elektronikaffald — and contain materials that require specialist disposal. Why TV disposal in Denmark requires specialist handling
Modern and older televisions both contain materials that make landfill disposal illegal and environmentally dangerous in Denmark.
Flat screen, LCD and LED televisions Contain mercury in the CCFL backlighting tubes of older LCD screens, lead solder throughout the circuit boards, brominated flame retardants in the plastic housing and cadmium compounds in some older display components. Even newer LED-backlit screens contain hazardous compounds in their electronic components.
Older plasma screens Contain xenon and neon gas, lead in the glass panels and significant quantities of heavy metals in the electronic components.
Very large format screens Commercial display screens and very large consumer TVs — 65 inches and above — are heavy, awkward and present a genuine injury risk if handled without proper technique. They also contain proportionally larger quantities of hazardous materials.
In Denmark, all televisions and screens fall under the EU WEEE Directive — implemented through Miljøstyrelsen and the Danish producer responsibility scheme. Every television must be disposed of through an approved collection channel. This applies to working TVs, broken TVs, and TVs that have simply been replaced with a newer model.
TV types we collect
Flat screen televisions — all sizes LCD, LED, QLED and OLED flat screens from all brands — Samsung, LG, Sony, Philips, Hisense, TCL and others. We collect screens of all sizes from small bedroom TVs to very large living room screens. We carry large screens safely from any floor.
Older LCD and plasma screens TVs from the 2000s and early 2010s — bulkier, heavier LCD panels and plasma screens that have been sitting in a basement storage room or loftrum. These are among the most common TV disposal situations we encounter in Danish homes.
Smart TVs and internet-connected screens Before we collect your smart TV, please sign out of all streaming accounts — Netflix, Viaplay, Disney+, HBO Max — and perform a factory reset through the settings menu. This removes your account credentials and personal data from the device.
Computer monitors Desktop computer monitors — LCD and older CRT monitors — are collected as part of a TV and electronics disposal visit.
Commercial and office displays Large format commercial displays, digital signage screens, video walls and presentation screens from offices, retail spaces and public areas across Copenhagen.
Projectors and display equipment Projectors, large format displays and AV equipment from homes, offices and educational institutions.
Data and account security before TV collection
Modern smart TVs store significantly more personal data than most people realise — streaming account credentials, Wi-Fi passwords, connected app logins, viewing history and in some cases stored payment information.
Before we collect your smart TV, please take these steps.
Go to the TV settings menu and find the factory reset option — usually under General, System or Privacy settings depending on the brand. Perform a full factory reset which removes all accounts, passwords and personal data. Sign out of streaming services individually before the reset if you are concerned about account security. Remove any connected USB storage devices.
If you are unable to reset the TV yourself — for example if the remote is missing or the screen is damaged — let us know when you book and we will note it. For businesses with sensitive data on commercial display systems, we recommend a certified data destruction service before collection.
TV donation — when is it possible in Denmark?
Working televisions in reasonable condition can sometimes be donated rather than recycled. The realistic picture in Denmark is as follows.
Flat screen TVs under 5 years old in full working order are the most likely to be accepted by donation organisations. Some Danish charity organisations and social enterprises accept working flat screens for use in communal spaces, family housing and community facilities.
Older televisions — plasma screens, early LCD panels and any CRT sets — are very difficult to donate in Denmark as demand is extremely limited. Most Danish genbrugsstationer and charity organisations no longer accept CRT televisions due to their hazardous content and the cost of disposal.
When you book, let us know if your TV is working and what model and age it is. We will assess whether donation is a realistic option and pursue it if it is — before routing to recycling if not.
TV recycling — what happens to your television in Denmark
Every television collected by Get It All Service ApS goes to a certified Danish WEEE recycling facility where it is processed by licensed technicians.
The process involves safe dismantling in controlled conditions. Glass panels are separated and processed for glass recycling. Circuit boards are processed for precious metal recovery — gold, silver, copper and palladium are reclaimed from electronic components. Plastic housings are shredded and separated for plastic recycling streams. Hazardous materials — mercury, cadmium and lead compounds — are extracted and processed as hazardous waste under strict containment procedures.
Nothing from your old television goes to landfill if it can be recycled or recovered. Danish WEEE processing recovers over 70% of materials from end-of-life electronics by weight.
