Christianshavn is one of Copenhagen’s most distinctive addresses. Moving here requires knowing it.
Christianshavn is not like other Copenhagen neighbourhoods. It sits on a separate island, connected to the rest of the city by bridges. Its canals, 17th-century architecture and the proximity of Freetown Christiania give it a character that is entirely its own. The people who choose to live here — and choosing is the right word — tend to be committed to the neighbourhood in a way that goes beyond address. They know the waterfront paths, the specific bridges, the quiet courtyards behind the baroque street facades.
They also know that moving in or out of Christianshavn requires a removal company that understands the access constraints. The island streets are narrow. Parking is genuinely difficult in places. Several of the most beautiful buildings on Strandgade and Overgaden Oven Vande have stairwells that date to the 17th century — wide enough for the furniture of that era, considerably more challenging for a modern IKEA wardrobe. We know which addresses have these challenges before we arrive, because we ask the right questions at booking.
What we do in Christianshavn
Moving service — fixed price based on property size. From DKK 4,385 for a studio to DKK 11,765 for a 90 m² apartment. Floor surcharge DKK 150 per floor above ground at both addresses. We assess access and confirm the team size before the day.
Same-day junk removal — we completed a same-day collection on Strandgade in June 2026 within three hours of the first call. Christianshavn addresses are within our standard Copenhagen zone — no distance surcharge, same-day available most weekdays.
White glove delivery — the design community around Christianshavn and Holmen generates regular demand for premium furniture delivery. We collect from any Copenhagen showroom or depot and deliver to your door with furniture blankets throughout. Packaging removed before we leave.
IKEA and flat-pack assembly — from DKK 795 per item. We also remove all packaging on completion.
The canal-side buildings — what to know about access
Addresses on Strandgade, Overgaden Neden Vande and Overgaden Oven Vande sit directly on the canal. The buildings are beautiful and the access is specific. Many have inner courtyards that a van cannot enter. The stopping zones on the canal-facing streets are limited. We navigate this consistently and efficiently because we know the area — we do not discover it on moving day.
Holmen and Refshaleøen nearby have their own access profile — former industrial sites with generous vehicle access but specific entry points. We serve both.
