Emergency Pallet Removal, Copenhagen Cruise Terminal — Same Day

📍 Copenhagen, Denmark 📅 22/07/2026 ⏱ 6 min read

The call came at midday. The ship sailed that evening.

On Saturday, 18 July 2026, we took a phone call from an event production company from Tualatin, Oregon. They were working a cruise call at Ocean Quay, Terminal 2, Berth C332 in Nordhavn, Copenhagen, and they had a problem that had nothing to do with events and everything to do with a deadline.

They had booked a waste contractor to collect their spent event equipment. The contractor did not turn up. No call, no message. Their vessel was due to depart that evening, and several pallets of vases, staging equipment and event materials were sitting on the quayside with nowhere to go.

A cruise ship does not wait. Neither does a berth allocation. Anything left on that quay becomes the port’s problem, and then it becomes the client’s problem, usually with a bill attached.

We took the job and were on site the same afternoon.

Four pallets became six and a half

The brief was four pallets at roughly 800 kg. When our crew arrived and walked the load, it was closer to six and a half pallets. That is not unusual — when a job is being handed over in a hurry by people who are mid-crisis, the count is an estimate, not a survey.

This is the moment that separates a supplier who solves the problem from one who creates a second one. We did not stop work, renegotiate on the quayside, or leave two pallets behind for someone else to deal with. We adjusted the plan, took the full load, and confirmed the revised scope with the client in writing afterwards.

Everything was removed from the terminal and taken to ARC (Amager Resource Center) for sorting and certified processing. Glass, timber, packaging, and general waste were separated at the facility rather than sent as a mixed load.

Why cruise and event logistics go wrong

Copenhagen handles over 800,000 cruise passengers a year across three terminals—Langelinie, Ocean Quay in Nordhavn, and Frihavnen. Alongside the passengers comes an enormous volume of operational material: staging, décor, catering equipment, promotional builds, and packaging. Most of it has to disappear within a narrow window between the ship berthing and the ship leaving.

Three things make it harder than ordinary commercial clearance:

  • The window is fixed by the vessel, not by the calendar. A domestic clearance can slip a day. A cruise call cannot.
  • Terminal access is controlled. Berths, security procedures, and vehicle access at Ocean Quay are not something you can improvise on the day.
  • The client is usually not Danish. Event and production companies fly in, work the call, and fly out. They are booking suppliers in a country they do not know, in a language they may not speak, often on recommendation alone.

That last point is why a no-show is so damaging. An international client stranded on a Copenhagen quayside has no local network to fall back on. They are searching, calling, and hoping someone answers.

What we do differently on emergency work

We answer the phone. Monday to Saturday 07:30–18:00 and Sunday 10:30–17:00. On urgent work you speak to a person, not a form.

We give a straight answer about whether we can do it. If we cannot reach you in the window, we say so immediately so you can keep looking. A maybe is worse than a no when the clock is running.

We take the whole load. If the scope on the ground is larger than the brief, we deal with it and settle the paperwork afterwards. We would rather adjust an invoice than leave a client with a part-cleared quayside.

We handle the disposal properly. Everything is routed through ARC-certified processing with documentation available for your records — which matters if you are reporting on waste handling to a cruise line or a client.

We work in English. Our team is English-speaking throughout, which for an international production company is not a small detail.

Who this service is for

  • Event production and staging companies working cruise calls in Copenhagen
  • Cruise lines and shore-excursion operators
  • Destination management companies and inbound tour operators
  • Exhibition and conference organisers at Bella Center and elsewhere
  • Any international company that has been let down by a booked supplier and needs someone today

We already handle luggage and logistics for cruise groups, international tour operators, and professional sports teams arriving in Copenhagen. Pallet and equipment clearance at the terminals is the same operation from the other direction.

Emergency clearance — what it costs

Emergency and same-day work is priced on crew, vehicle time, and disposal volume rather than a fixed list, because no two of these jobs are alike. All prices exclude 25% Danish VAT, and you get a figure before we start, not afterwards.

For anything urgent, call +45 9384 1333 rather than emailing. If we can do it, we will tell you within minutes. If we cannot, we will tell you that just as quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Can you collect from Copenhagen’s cruise terminals?

Yes—Ocean Quay in Nordhavn, Langelinie Pier, and Frihavnen. We are used to terminal access procedures, berth allocations, and working to a vessel’s schedule rather than our own.

How quickly can you respond to an emergency collection?

For Copenhagen and Greater Copenhagen, we can often be on-site the same afternoon if you call before mid-morning. Call rather than email—on urgent work, the phone gets an answer in minutes.

What happens if the load is bigger than we estimated?

We take it. The scope of emergency work is frequently larger than the initial description, and we plan for that. We confirm the revised scope with you in writing afterwards rather than stopping work on site to renegotiate.

Do you provide documentation of disposal?

Yes. Everything goes through ARC-certified processing, and we can provide written confirmation of disposal for your records or for reporting to a cruise line or client.

Do you work with companies based outside Denmark?

Regularly. Our team works in English, we invoice internationally with full CVR documentation, and a large share of our commercial work comes from companies operating in Copenhagen for a few days at a time.
