This week we received an email from Karen — a travel coordinator based in Dublin, working for a corporate relocation company with offices in Dublin, London, Frankfurt, Copenhagen and Amsterdam. She needed a furnished apartment cleared in Hillerød, 3400, before the end of July. The apartment belonged to an employee who had finished their Denmark posting and was returning to Ireland.

What corporate employee departure clearance actually involves
When an international employee finishes a Denmark assignment and returns home — to Ireland, the UK, the USA, Germany, Japan, the UAE or anywhere else — their Danish apartment does not clear itself. The furniture they bought at IKEA when they arrived needs to go somewhere. The bed, sofa, table, chairs, lamps, kitchen items — all of it needs to be removed before the lease ends and the keys go back.
The person responsible for arranging this is usually not the employee — they are already on a plane.
