Board Disposal at the Royal Danish Playhouse — Same-Day Commercial Waste Removal in 5 Hours | GIA Service ApS

📍 Copenhagen, Denmark 📅 13/06/2026 🚛 Get It All Service ApS

The call came in. Five hours later, it was done.

Yesterday afternoon, a customer at the Royal Danish Playhouse on Sankt Annæ Plads called us with an urgent request. Six large boards — plywood, foam board and PVC — each measuring 2 metres by 1.5 metres, needed to be collected and disposed of the same day. No van available on their end. No time to arrange it through normal channels. They needed it gone before the end of the working day.

We confirmed availability within the hour. By 4:15 pm we were on site. By early evening the boards were gone, processed through ARC eco-certified waste streams — PVC and foam board handled through specialist disposal channels, not general waste.

Five hours from first contact to cleared site. That is what same-day commercial waste removal actually means.

Why the Royal Danish Playhouse — and what this tells you about who calls us

The Royal Danish Playhouse at Sankt Annæ Plads 36, 1250 Copenhagen K is one of the most significant cultural buildings in Scandinavia. Designed by Lundgaard & Tranberg and opened in 2008, it sits directly on Copenhagen’s inner harbour with three stages, a waterfront promenade, and a constant rotation of productions, installations, events and set builds.

Every theatre, exhibition space, production studio and cultural venue in Copenhagen generates exactly this kind of commercial waste — large format materials left over from set construction, display builds, exhibitions and events. Plywood panels. Foam boards. PVC sheeting. Materials that are too large for standard collection, too awkward to move without a van, and too specialist in their disposal requirements for general waste contractors.

This is a niche that GIA Service ApS fills quietly and consistently. Venues, event companies, interior designers, retail fit-out contractors and creative studios across Copenhagen call us when they have oversized commercial waste and no time to organise anything complicated.

What we removed — and how commercial board waste is disposed of correctly

The six boards at the Playhouse consisted of:

  • 2 × plywood boards — 2.0 m × 1.5 m × 6 mm
  • 2 × foam board — 2.0 m × 1.5 m × 6 mm
  • 2 × PVC board — 2.0 m × 1.5 m × 6 mm

These are not standard household waste. Foam board and PVC require separate waste streams — they cannot go into general recycling and should not go to landfill. At ARC (Amager Resource Center), these materials are sorted by type: PVC goes to chemical waste processing, foam board to specific recycling streams. Plywood goes to wood recycling. Everything is documented.

This matters for commercial customers. Cultural institutions, publicly funded venues and companies with sustainability commitments need to know their waste is handled correctly — not simply dumped.

If you manage a venue, studio or commercial property in central Copenhagen

Set builders, event coordinators, exhibition designers, retail fit-out teams and facilities managers across Copenhagen’s cultural and commercial districts — Indre By, Frederiksstaden, Nyhavn, Christianshavn, Nordhavn — generate this kind of waste regularly. Large format materials after a build. Leftover stock after an installation. Old display boards after an exhibition comes down.

You do not always have time to arrange disposal through standard channels. You have a deadline, a space that needs to be clear, and a team that cannot spend the afternoon making phone calls.

One email or one phone call to GIA Service ApS and we assess whether we can come the same day. If we can, we confirm a time and a fixed price before we arrive. If we cannot do it today, we give you the first available slot tomorrow.

This is not a complicated service. It is just one that requires someone reliable, with the right van, who actually picks up the phone.
