The short answer
When you move to Canada, you account for your personal effects with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) on form BSF186, the Personal Effects Accounting Document. Belongings that we ship after you travel are goods to follow: the CBSA asks you to list them separately from the goods you bring with you, on form BSF186A or a separate list, when you arrive.
Checklist
- Form BSF186, completed when you arrive in Canada
- A separate list of the goods to follow (BSF186A), made before you travel
- A packing list for our shipment that matches your goods-to-follow list (our shipping data sheet produces it)
- Your status: settler moving to Canada, or former resident returning
Before you book
Make the goods-to-follow list before you leave Denmark and bring it to the border: the shipment we send is cleared against that list. Describe every item in plain words, for example “used winter clothing”.
How Get It All Service ApS helps
We collect your boxes, furniture or pallets at your door anywhere in Denmark and ship them to your Canadian address. Our shipping data sheet asks the Canada questions and builds the list. Basic transport insurance is included. See also shipping belongings abroad from Denmark and our international freight service.
